The Position
Class Code 28274: Parking Lot Attendant
Transfer job postings are for County of Sacramento employees only.
In order to be qualified for a transfer:
1. You must meet the Minimum Qualifications of the new job.
2. The difference between the top salary steps (the highest pay rate within the range of pay) of your current job class and the job class that you intend to transfer into must be less than 5%.
There are three different transfer types that you may qualify for: interdepartmental transfer interclass transfer and voluntary demotion. These different transfer types are defined as:
- Interdepartmental transfer - a transfer in the same class from one County department to another.
- Interclass transfer - a transfer from one job class to a different job addition the difference between the top salary steps (the highest pay rate within the range of pay) of your current job class and the job class that you intend to transfer into must be less than 5%.
- Voluntary demotion - a transfer into a job class that pays less than 95% of your current class salary.
If you are requesting an interclass transfer or voluntary demotion either action is a change in class. Whether the change is a transfer or a demotion depends upon the difference between the maximum salary rates of the requested and incumbent classes. Personnel Ordinance Section 2.78.294 or the applicable labor agreement sets the criteria for determining the maximum difference allowed. Personnel Ordinance Section 2.78.228 defines demotion.
Under general supervision Parking Lot Attendants collect and account for parking fees at a County managed public parking lot; provide routine information to the public; patrol lots and direct traffic to ensure safe operations.
Examples of Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of
- Basic arithmetic and simple calculations
- Principles and methods of cash handling
- Basic computer operation
- Customer service principles practices and techniques
- English usage grammar vocabulary and spelling
Ability to - Make change and add and subtract money amounts and figure amounts of time rapidly and accurately
- Keep simple records using computer based programs and spreadsheets
- File documents in alphanumeric order
- Provide routine information to the public
- Maintain a polite and courteous manner with the public
- Read write and speak English at a level necessary for satisfactory job
performance - Operate a computerized cash register and parking-auditor equipment
- Learn laws ordinances department rules and policies
Employment Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Six months of full-time experience performing monetary transactions and giving information to the public.
Note: The word experience referenced in the minimum qualifications means full-time paid experience unless the minimum qualification states that volunteer experience is acceptable. Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements.
General Qualifications
Criminal History Check:
The County may access criminal history information on candidates who have accepted a conditional offer of appointment for this class consistent with the provisions of Board of Supervisors Resolution No. 82-602 Personnel Policies and Procedures B-5 and applicable federal and state laws. The County shall not consider for employment any candidate who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor that relates to or impacts the candidates ability to perform the job duties of this class unless it is determined that mitigating circumstances exist. For purposes of search of local state and national fingerprint files and accessing criminal history information the candidate will be fingerprinted. A subsequent arrest notification may be obtained.
License Requirement:
A valid California Driver License Class C or higher may be required at the time of appointment. Failure to obtain or maintain the appropriate California Driver License may constitute cause for personnel action in accordance with Civil Service Rules or applicable bargaining agreement. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Physical Requirements:
Positions require walking standing bending and lifting up to 30 pounds. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Working Conditions:
Positions require working outdoors and exposure to inclement weather conditions.
