What Youll Do Here:

The Student Estimator will have the opportunity to support the Major Projects team in their process of bidding new work and working with the estimating team. This is a 4-month opportunity that will work in our downtown Vancouver head office. The student intern will have the following duties in this role:

• Being mentored by Senior and Chief Estimators in bidding projects including construction approach
• Pursuing various projects including a combination of bid-build design-build and PPP projects ranging from bridges tunnels highways to water & wastewater treatment
• Working with estimate teams on bid preparations including
  • Quantity takeoff and updating estimate software with quantities
  • Subcontractor/Vendor solicitation
  • Subcontractor/Vendor Quote comparisons
  • Inserting quotes into estimate software
  • Assisting with means and methods for project construction
  • Assisting in design build process and working with design teams
• Preparing portions of estimates utilizing Hard Dollar Estimating software
• Preparing portions of schedules utilizing Primavera P6 software
• Participate in tender closing
• Working with partners estimating teams
• Preparation of handover documents to site team for successful bids

What You Bring to the Team:

• Currently enrolled in a university or technical college diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
• A valid drivers license with a clean drivers abstract is an asset
• Proven ability to work under pressure prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for normal functions and special assignments.
• Attention to detail mathematical analytical skills and accuracy.
• Ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external clients.
• Service orientation and ability to work effectively with a team environment.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook.

The expected pay range for this position is $23.00-$25.00 per hour.
