Job Summary

What Youll Do:

Judicial Law Clerks review and analyze arguments presented in a variety of motions and memoranda in support of discretionary addition Judicial Law Clerks research and prepare initial drafts of merit opinions at the direction of the Justice.

Supreme Court of Ohio Justice R. Patrick DeWine is accepting applications for the position of Judicial Law Clerk in his chambers. The position will commence September 2027 and will run through September 2028.

The salary for the position will be set based on experience with a range beginning at $106329.60. A competitive benefits package is also provided. This is a State of Ohio exempt unclassified position.

Background Check
The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check. Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position. An individual assessment of an applicants prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.

What were looking for:

The successful applicant will be either a licensed attorney or a recent law school graduate who is sitting for a bar examination prior to the commencement date of the position. Prior clerkship experience is strongly preferred. The ability to work independently collaboratively and efficiently is required. Superior research analytical and writing abilities are mandatory.
