The City of Abbotsford is looking for creative and caring individuals with a keen interest in recreation the outdoors and a passion for working with children. This is a seasonal position for the duration of our Summer Camps up to 40 Hours a week dependent on program registration. The term of the position is 11 weeks beginning June 16 2026 and ending Aug 29 2026.

This is an entry-level supervisory position that oversees the Community Recreation Day Camp Leaders. The incumbent will ensure that a high-level of customer service is maintained and that work is carried out in accordance with safety standards and best practices.

Reporting to the Community Recreation Programmer the Summer Camp Supervisor exercises independence of judgement and action within established policies procedures and guidelines referring difficult problems and impasses to their supervisor.

Duties:

  • Oversee all aspects of camp activities
  • Assist the Community Recreation Programmer in the supervision of camp leaders
  • Assist in the development and delivery of camp orientation and training
  • Step in as a leader in camps as needed leading games activities and crafts
  • Provide a safe & supportive environment for participants & Camp Leaders
  • Work with camp leaders city staff parents and caregivers to provide service excellence
  • Communicate with Summer Camp Programmer on a daily basis
  • Support the camp team in planning of activities themes and out-trips promotions and events
  • Planning organizing and purchasing of camp supplies within a pre-determined budget
  • Administrative work including printing and organizing forms attendance sheets maintaining records

Qualifications:

  • Standard First Aid and CPR C with AED certification
  • BCRPA High5 Certification
  • Valid BC Drivers Licence (Class 5 or 7N) and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Previous day camp or recreation experience
  • Post-Secondary education in Recreation or related subject an asset
  • Experience with Registration Systems and Microsoft Office an asset

The applicant/incumbent will be required to provide a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening in order to work in this position and must report to their manager if any criminal charges are laid against them that may be related to their employment.

Salary: $23.09- $27.17per hour plus the appropriate percentage in lieu of benefits.
