ABOUT Children Ahead Supporting Children. Promoting Resilience and Recovery
The Children Ahead Program helps children by focusing on what they need to recover from trauma. The program provides a dual service to children offering both a thorough and comprehensive case management service alongside strengths-based counselling.
The Children Ahead program works collaboratively with relevant schools and agencies to make sure children and their families have the community connections needed for immediate and long-term support.
ABOUT THE PRACTITIONER ROLE
Provide individual therapeutic support and case management to promote their recovery from the
effects of trauma or violence.
Provide efficient and professional case work including intake assessment partnering with other
services as appropriate service provision referral review and closure.
Foster collaborative relationships with key stakeholders including schools allied health
professionals and others as appropriate.
Maintain accurate and up to date client management and statistical records including case notes.
Proactively contribute to program development and improvement.
Develop long-term relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and organisations.
ABOUT YOU
An appropriate tertiary qualification in social welfare such as Social Work or Psychology with
eligibility for membership of a professional organisation (ie. AASW or APS) or other qualifications
suitable for practice in the child and family welfare field.
Minimum 2 years experience in providing high quality complex case management to children
youth and families in the context of violence abuse and trauma including a range of comprehensive
assessment case planning and intervention tools with strong client outcomes focus and/or minimum
2 years experience in delivering therapeutic services to vulnerable children and young people.
Demonstrated knowledge of best practice models and theories relating to children families trauma
violence or abuse.
Ability to apply risk management approaches within the context of child and family casework.
Proven ability to problem-solve creatively and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Proven ability in networking service provision and fostering collaborative relationships with relevant
agencies.
