About the position: Shady Hill is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant. Working closely with the Chef the Kitchen Assistant helps prepare daily employee lunches and supports food service for school meetings and special events. This is a full-time hourly in-person position during the school year. The scheduled hours are Monday Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with flexibility. Occasional night and weekend hours may also be available. Normally the position begins in August and ends in mid-June based on the school calendar with potential summer work in the Facilities department. This position is eligible for full benefits and paid holidays during the school year.
Responsibilities:- Under the direction of the Chef assist with preparing fresh meals and snacks for daily employee lunches school meetings and special events
- Provide friendly and attentive food service including setting up tables and buffet stations and passing hors doeuvres at catered events
- During lunch and events ensure buffet and beverage stations are well-stocked and organized
- Maintain a clean efficient kitchen including clearing food and washing dishes utensils pots and pans
- Safely store all kitchen and maintenance supplies and equipment in an organized manner
- Stock student snack boxes daily
- Support the Chef with weekly kitchen restocking
- Clean and maintain kitchen machines and equipment
- Uphold all kitchen policies and standards in the Chefs absence
- Perform other duties as assigned
