Job Summary

THE OPPORTUNITYOdlum Brown is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to succeed the current Branch Manager for the Victoria and Courtenay offices. This role is a critical link between advisor operations regulatory compliance and strategic business Branch Manager will support over 30 advisory team members and partners closely with Branch Vice President Vice President of Sales and Business Development Head of Practice Management and the Chief Compliance Officer to drive operational excellence while upholding the highest standards of regulatory leadership role requires the ability to build trusted relationships with advisors and key stakeholders promote a high-performance culture and serve as a strategic partner to senior and executive RESPONSIBILITIESBranch Leadership and Advisor ManagementLead mentor and support 30 Investment Advisors and support team members across the Victoria and Courtenay officesFoster a high-performance collaborative and clients first culture aligned with the firms values and long-term strategyBuild strong trusted relationships with advisory teams; serve as a business compliance and operational resourceParticipate in advisor onboarding succession planning and talent development initiative in partnership with Practice Management and Sales LeadershipOperations ManagementDevelop and execute branch goals and objectives for both Victoria and CourtenayRecommend and implement improvements to internal controls workflows and operational processesOversee administrative functions and facility managementManage branch budgets including invoice review and expense reimbursements approvalsLiaise with IT on technology support data security and infrastructure needsCollaborate with Marketing and Communications on firm and branch eventsPeople LeadershipRecruit train supervise and mentor Investment Assistants and branch support team membersConduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to ensure professionalism and productivityManage Investment Assistant schedules and vacation coverage to ensure business continuity and client service levels are maintainedSupervision and Risk OversightProvide supervisory oversight for the Victoria and Courtenay branches ensuring adherence to CIRO and firm policiesImplement and maintain a comprehensive Portfolio Manager Supervision programSupport compliance with daily monthly and quarterly supervision activities including:Trade reviewsAccount activity monitoringClient communicationsMarketing and Communications approvalsAdvisor conduct oversightCollaborate with Compliance to enhance supervision frameworks testing protocols and monitoring programsAssist with audits internal investigations and remediation of compliance findingsStay current on regulatory developments and proactively implement required policy or process changesCross-Functional PartnershipSales and Business Development:Align compliance and supervisory frameworks with growth recruitment and business development initiativesSupport branch expansion efforts by ensuring compliance-readiness and operational scalabilityPractice Management:Promote best practices in advisor operations onboarding client service and profitabilityIntegrate compliance considerations into training process improvement and client experience initiativesCompliance:Implement compliance programs and risk-mitigation strategies at the branch levelServe as a regional escalation point and trusted advisor on regulatory mattersOperational Oversight and ReportingEnsure branch operations run efficiently proactively and in full complianceMaintain accurate supervisory documentation and recordsProvide regular reporting to Senior Leadership on supervision outcomes risk issues and compliance trendsContinuously recommend enhancements to internal controls and workflowsClient & Regulatory Issue ResolutionPartner with Compliance Legal Operations and Management to resolve client related issues promptly and professionallyEnsure alignment between regulatory obligations and the preservation of strong client relationshipsIDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILECompletion or current enrollment in the CIRO Supervisor ExamProven experience in branch leadership compliance supervision or advisory management within the Canadian wealth management industryIn-depth knowledge of Canadian securities regulations particularly CIROStrong client-facing and relationship building capabilitiesSolid understanding of advisor business models operational needs and client service deliveryDemonstrated leadership coaching and mentorship skillsExcellent judgment communication and cross-functional collaboration abilitiesAbility to balance strategic leadership with hands-on operational and supervisory responsibilitiesWHAT WE OFFERA culture of openness collaboration and respect is foundational to our firm.
