What istheOpportunity

We are a trusted provider of end-to-end integrated Urban Transportation Solutions. From Light Rail Transit (LRT) to subways and commuter rail systems Aecons expansive resources for planning engineering procuring building and commissioning large-scale infrastructure projects means we can handle all aspects of a transit project from conception through operation.

The Communications Director will lead all aspects of strategic communications for a major rail infrastructure project in Quebec. This senior role is responsible for setting the vision and ensuring best-in-class execution of project communications stakeholder engagement and community relations. The Director will oversee the development and implementation of client-approved Communication Plans Issues Management and Crisis Communication strategies as well social media engagement and media relations strategies. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in large-scale transportation or infrastructure projects strong relationships with Quebec media fluency in French and English and proven ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments including elected officials and regulatory bodies.

What You Will Do Here:

  • In collaboration with the client and colleagues research plan develop and execute communication plans for a specific event scope of work and/or forissuesmanagement.
  • Working closely with the construction teamdevelopcommunication materials for print digital or social media formats (e.g. fact sheets construction notices advertisements digital/copy writing presentations signage Q&A community letters).
  • Draft media relations materials including press releases mediaresponsesand statements and produce media reports and social listening analytics.
  • Collaborate with the client to develop and write editorialcontent andcoordinate photography/video for the project website and social media platforms.
  • Attend stakeholder and community meetings operations meetings communications working group meetings and government authority communications meetings to proactivelyidentifyactivities to be communicated to affected residents or stakeholders.
  • Plan and write communication materials and organize outreach meetings forums public informationcentres tours stakeholdermeetingsand project milestone events.
  • Work effectively with public and private sector partners to build relationships with various professional associations and stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to service standards by effectively mitigating responding to and reporting project-related issues ensuringtimelyresolution and logging.
  • Respond to public inquiries (in-person by telephone or via email) about design and construction activities (including information on construction schedules transit and traffic impacts community meetings etc.) ina timelyand efficient manner.
  • Support emergency and crisis communications by drafting required communications materials.
  • In tandem create a library of best practices for similar projects on an ongoing basis.
  • Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity welcome different perspectives and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.

What You BringtotheTeam:

  • A post-secondary diploma in communications public relations or journalism or equivalent experience.
  • 15 years of experience in communications preferably in a key role that shaped the success of an infrastructure project.
  • The ideal candidate brings established relationships with Quebec media.
  • Experience and understanding of working with elected officials and various levels of government is an asset.
  • Customer focused detail-orientedresponsiveand proactive.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized withdemonstratedability to plan and execute multiple priorities with tight deadlines and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstratedproficiencyin Microsoft Office Suite including superior skills in Excel.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign Illustrator Photoshop).
  • Digitally and social media savvy.
  • Professional business communication designationsconsideredan asset.
  • Be a champion of inclusion and diversity.
  • Bilingual in French and English is required.
  • Must be local to Quebec City or willing to relocate.
