Were seeking an attentive and dedicated
Accounting Assistant to join our client in
Dartmouth on a
long-term contract (maternity leave coverage). Supporting daily accounting operations and administrative functions within the finance unit this is an excellent opportunity for an individual keen to expand on their experience in a versatile and collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:- Support accounts payable and receivable including invoice preparation prepayment collection vendor payments and employee expense reimbursements
- Perform bank credit card and general ledger reconciliations investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems including off-site storage
- Assist with tax documentation audits and external reviews by preparing required reports and support materials
- Support month-end quarter-end and year-end close processes
- Enter verify and process financial transactions in compliance with company policies and approvals
- Respond to customer and vendor accounting inquiries
- Provide general administrative and finance-related support as required
Experience & Attributes for Success:- Diploma or certificate in Accounting Finance Business Administration or equivalent practical experience
- 13 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role preferred
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office 365 applications
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion
