Job Summary
Swim Instructor Swim Instructors are expected to provide instruction in our Learn to Swim programs offered through the American Red Cross. All Swim Instructors must be willing to get WSI certification for employment. Swim Instructors will be assigned lessons for each session. Workloads during each session will depend on experience and past performance teaching lessons. All Swim Instructors MUST be Red Cross WSI certified and American Red Cross lifeguard certified and pass a Level 2 fingerprint screening. (varies by location) as well as a drug screening as part of the hiring process.
Develop and deliver swimming lessons to individuals or small groups covering both swimming techniques and water safety.
Maintain constant supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
Evaluate students abilities identify areas for improvement and provide constructive feedback to help them progress.
Create effective lesson plans tailored to different skill levels and ages.
Be able to adapt teaching methods to suit the diverse needs and abilities of students
Interact with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns.
Help keep the swimming area clean tidy and safe reporting any maintenance issues.
Complete required paperwork including records of student attendance and progress.
Demonstrate patience and a positive encouraging attitude to foster a supportive learning environment.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of proper swimming techniques and water safety rules.
