General Description (Purpose and Function):

ThePhysicianis responsible for assessing physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview health history physical examination and diagnostic studies.The Physician educates patients on wellnesspreventionand early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients and families.

The physician is also responsible for driving the academic and operational missions of the division. This includes education research and patient care within our inpatient and/or outpatient care settings. The physician is expected to work collegially and collaboratively with other members of the Divisionof Pulmonary Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (PCCSM) Departmentof Medicine (DOM)andother Departments orCenters School of Medicine (SOM) University of Miami Medical Group (UMMG) and affiliated Hospital entities in promoting the various missions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct the care of critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit

  • Monitor andmaintainpulmonary support for patients including use and calibration of ventilators and life support systems

  • Formulate treatment plans routine diagnostic and follow-up studiesandtherapeutic measures

  • Developpost-discharge carein accordance withwritten practice protocols

  • Orderappropriate laboratorytests according to practice guidelines

  • Provide supervision of medical services and ensure appropriateness quality and safety of patient care within the scope of the division.

  • Develop implement and evaluateanappropriatepatientplan of care

  • Assess severity of patients conditiondeterminingand directing patients to appropriate medical plan and assessment

  • Activelyparticipatein quality assurance programs and peer review activities

  • Determinerequiredreferrals based onlevel of urgency and patient needs

  • Exercises final medial judgment in all issues of healthcare

  • Reviews on a regular basis long term cases that require ongoing medical attention

  • Consults with Medical Director and other professional onstaff as neededregardingpatient care programsestablishedby the hospital or clinic

  • Overseeassignedallied health professionalmedical staffandnursing clinical

  • Assistin the resolution of complaintsrequestandinquiriesfrom patients

  • Develop priorities for growth of clinical programs to meet patient needs

  • Enhance quality of care and implement innovations in care

  • Supplement departmental and research efforts

  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient information according to federal andstateguidelines and regulations

  • Document all services in patient medical records for compliance and regulatory adherence

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professionalmedical principles procedures and techniques

  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatments

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette

  • Performs intactfuland professional manner.

Education Requirements(Essential Requirements):

  • Physician withMD or DO Degree

  • Board Certified with Medical License

  • Board Eligible with Medical License

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS)

Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):

  • 0 1 Years of Experience (minimum)

  • 1 Years of Experience (preferred)
