Material Coordinator
Location: Houston TX (Hybrid)
Contract: 12-month contract
Work Schedule:
- Hybrid schedule: On-site Monday Tuesday and Thursday
- Remote work Wednesday and Friday
Position Overview
We are seeking a Material Coordinator to support multiple active projects by managing and tracking materials from requisition through delivery. This is an office-based project-focused role that works closely with Project Managers Engineers Supply Chain Logistics and field teams to ensure materials are delivered on time and to the correct locations to support project schedules.
This position is not responsible for purchasing materials but instead focuses on coordination tracking expediting and resolving material-related issues across multiple projects simultaneously.
The role follows a hybrid schedule with on-site work three days per week and remote work on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and track project materials from design through delivery to ensure alignment with project schedules
- Develop and maintain material tracking tools status reports and delivery schedules
- Review technical drawings and Bills of Material (BOMs) to confirm material scope and requirements at various design milestones (30% 60% 90% IFC)
- Coordinate with Engineering and Supply Chain teams to support timely RFQs awards and material releases
- Monitor material lead times and assist with expediting critical components
- Work with warehouse and logistics teams to confirm inventory availability material movements and delivery status
- Create and manage SAP purchase requisitions reservations and goods receipts as required
- Assist with identifying surplus materials and coordinating transfers or recovery
- Resolve material discrepancies related to quantities quality documentation or delivery timing
- Locate and manage material documentation including Material Test Records (MTRs) in support of construction and commissioning activities
- Provide construction teams with required material documentation and status updates
- Coordinate material releases between warehouses fabricators laydown yards and project sites
- Support multiple Project Managers and projects concurrently balancing competing priorities
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in a project-based environment within energy oil & gas pipeline or power industries
- Prior experience in material coordination material management logistics or project coordination
- General knowledge of materials and equipment used in construction projects
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering project controls logistics and construction teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the oil & gas pipeline or power generation industries
- Familiarity with piping materials valves and fittings
- Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings and Bills of Material
- SAP experience (requisitioning material tracking and receiving)
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel Word Outlook)
- Excellent communication problem-solving and coordination skills
