Associate or Full Professor, Digital Forensics

The School of Interdisciplinary Forensics (SIF) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for a full-time benefits-eligible tenured faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in our digital forensics program. The position will begin in August 2026.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish a vigorous externally funded program of research in digital forensics; deliver quality undergraduate and graduate instruction in digital forensics cybersecurity and computer science; contribute service to the School College University the profession and the community; and would embrace taking leadership of the digital forensics program.

Faculty can participate in university-wide graduate programs. The successful candidate for this search will join the faculty in SIF and collaborate closely with faculty in the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences to expand and deepen program offerings and research endeavors in support of advancing the rigor. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a unit that values innovative research and undergraduate education equally while being housed in an R1 university. This has created the opportunity for our student population to obtain individual faculty mentorship on the West Valley Campus of ASU which provides a close-knit residential campus setting.

About the School:

SIF offers a unique approach to forensic education offering students transdisciplinary ways to learn about how technology and science interact with law legal systems and legal issues. SIF has strengths in three primary domains: (1) the psychological sciences including clinical developmental and social psychology as well as interdisciplinary psychology and law; (2) the natural sciences such as anthropology (including bioarcheology osteology paleoanthropology) chemistry and biology (including entomology and genetics); and (3) information technology (digital forensics and cybersecurity). With a focus on real-world applications and ethical considerations SIF prepares students for careers in which they shape a justice system informed by scientific evidence and in which investigative and legal processes reflect empirically supported best practices and all people receive fair treatment.

Essential Functions of the Position:

• Establish a vigorous externally funded program of research in digital forensics.
• Build advance and lead digital and ground immersion degrees in digital forensics.
• Create and teach courses in relevant areas of digital forensics cybersecurity and computer science to undergraduate and graduate students in face-to-face hybrid and online formats.
• Advance impactful education through undergraduate research innovative programmatic development and culturally responsive teaching and mentoring practices.
• Contribute meaningful service to the School College University profession and community as appropriate.
• Engage in regular professional development.

Required Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. or similar terminal degree in cybersecurity computer science digital forensics or a closely related field at the time of hire.
• To be considered for the Associate/Full Professor position one must meet the criteria for tenure and promotion at Arizona State University.

Desired Qualifications:

• Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with students from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds including first-generation college students.
• Proven academic leadership skills and a desire to harness them to lead the digital forensics program.
• Evidence of an ongoing research program in digital forensics cybersecurity or computer science.
• A successful record of securing external funding for research.
• Evidence of successful course development experience commensurate with the candidates rank.
• Demonstrated experience in mentoring students in research in relevant areas.
• Interest/experience in establishing interdisciplinary research programs through collaborative efforts.
• Established collaborations with industry partners and/or previous industry experience.
• Experience with technology/course management systems such as Canvas.
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness as demonstrated by one or more of the following: student evaluations syllabi peer observations annual performance evaluations etc.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
