Position Overview

The Arizona Department of Revenue is seeking detail oriented and highly motivated Digital Accessibility Associates to support the remediation of PDF documents to meet accessibility compliance this role you will help ensure that all Arizonans-especially individuals using assistive technologies-have equal access to essential state resources and information.

This is more than document cleanup-your work directly removes accessibility barriers and expands digital inclusion across the state.

Key Responsibilities
  • Remediate PDF documents to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA and PDF/UA accessibility standards.
  • Use tools such as Grackle and Adobe Acrobat Pro to correct structural tagging and reading order issues.
  • Add semantic elements including headings lists tables and alt text for images.
  • Review documents for accuracy consistency and compliance with accessibility guidelines.
  • Follow strict project procedures and documentation standards to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Work closely with internal staff to clarify document requirements and remediation needs.
What Success Looks Like
  • You independently take ownership of accessibility remediation tasks with accuracy and consistency.
  • Digital documents become fully accessible for individuals using screen readers and other assistive technologies.
  • You approach each document like a logical puzzle-ensuring the final result is clean compliant and user friendly.
Required Qualifications
  • Exceptional attention to detail-you notice missing tags incorrect reading orders and structural inconsistencies.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to learn software quickly especially PDF remediation tools.
  • Comfort working in process driven environments following compliance standards and structured workflows.
  • Experience using general business software and productivity tools.
  • Must be local to Arizona at time of submission.
  • Must be available for in person interviews within one week of posting close date.
  • Must be able to start within two weeks of receiving an offer.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS especially semantic structure (e.g. ).
  • Understanding of Title II of the ADA and digital accessibility principles.
  • Certifications such as IAAP CPACC or similar accessibility credentials.
  • Prior experience using Grackle and/or Adobe Acrobat Pro for document remediation.
Logistics & Work Conditions
  • Training:
    • Initial training is conducted in person at the Department of Revenue office.
    • Training duration estimated at 1 2 weeks depending on learning curve.
  • Work Schedule: Full-time Monday Friday Day Shift.
  • Work Location: Hybrid - Remote work permitted after training is completed.
  • Security Requirements: Must pass required background checks.
  • Travel: No travel required.
  • Interviews: May be conducted onsite or remote. Candidate must be available for either option.
