This Primary Teaching Assistant position is ideal for graduates who want to gain practical classroom experience across KS1 and KS2. As a Primary Teaching Assistant you will provide one-to-one and small group support helping pupils develop their reading writing and maths skills. You will assist teachers with lesson preparation and resource creation ensuring lessons are engaging and accessible for all pupils. This Primary Teaching Assistant role also involves promoting pupils social emotional and academic development encouraging participation in group activities and building confidence in the classroom.
This Primary Teaching Assistant position is an excellent opportunity for graduates considering teacher training educational psychology or other education-focused careers. You will gain first-hand experience of how classrooms are run how pupils learn and how teachers plan effective lessons while developing strong communication organisation and classroom management skills. The Primary Teaching Assistant will work closely with teaching staff to monitor pupil progress and provide valuable feedback to support individual learning needs.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting pupils across KS1 and KS2 lessons
- Running small group interventions in literacy and numeracy
- Assisting teachers with lesson planning and preparation
- Promoting participation confidence and positive behaviour
- Monitoring and tracking pupil progress and reporting to teaching staff
Were looking for:
- A UK degree at 2:1 or above
- Excellent communication patience and organisational skills
- A genuine interest in working with children
- Availability for the full academic year
