The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner with the visionconfidenceand curiosity tolead ahigh-quality Computer Science curriculum across KS3KS5 ensuring strong academic outcomes while also developingpupilsdigital literacy computational thinking and understanding of emerging technologies. They will play a key role in preparing pupils not only for public examinations but for life in an increasingly digital and AI-influenced world.
Alongside responsibility for examination courses the post holder will have the opportunity to leadcurriculuminnovation and enrichment contributing to the wider profile of computing within the school. This includes exploring how developments such asartificial intelligence data ethics and digital responsibilitycan be thoughtfully and appropriately embedded into teaching and learning in line with the schools values and post would suit either an experienced Head of Department or an outstanding teacher ready to take the next step into subject will join a supportive and forward-looking environment in which there is genuine scope to shape the direction of the subject and contribute towhole-schoolthinking about digital education.
The computing departmentcomprisesofthreefull time and one part time colleaguesand has four dedicated computing classrooms. Progress and outcomes at GCSE and A-level computerscience are excellent year onyear.A vibrantpupilled ComputingSociety meets twice weekly over lunchtimes. The department has enjoyed significant success at British Informatics Olympiad and BAFTA young game designer competitions.

The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL) was awarded North Independent School of the Year 2024 and Independent Secondary School of the Decade in 2021. GSAL is academically selective with consistently excellent A-level and GCSE results. After merger the school introduced the diamond model of teaching through which boys and girls learn together up to age 11 then in single sex classes between Year 7 and Year11 andcome together again in sixth form lessons. Form time and extracurricular activities are mixed throughout. Class sizes are usually between 16 and 22.
