Senior Windows Systems Engineer (PKI)

Lighthouse Technology Services is partnering with our client to fill their Senior Systems Engineer Windows (PKI) position! This is a 12 month contract opportunity and will be Remote in the United States. This role will be a W2 employee of Lighthouse Technology Services.

Position Overview

The Senior Windows Systems Engineer is a senior hands-on engineer responsible for operating modernizing and automating enterprise Windows platforms with a strong emphasis on Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). While a primary initiative for this role is executing and improving Windows Server upgrade workflows the position also supports PKI operations certificate lifecycle management and PKI platform migrations. This role requires deep experience with enterprise PKI platforms strong Windows and Active Directory knowledge and advanced PowerShell automation skills. The work is project-driven with a flexible schedule including availability during defined maintenance windows planned change periods and occasional evenings or weekends.

What Youll Be Doing:

• Plan validate and execute Windows Server upgrades across production and non-production environments.
• Design and implement automation workflows for the Windows Server upgrade lifecycle.
• Support enterprise PKI and certificate services including issuance renewal revocation and trust distribution.
• Participate in PKI platform migrations and support decommissioning of legacy ADCS components.
• Maintain and troubleshoot Windows identity services and Active Directory dependencies.
• Engineer and support hybrid Windows environments in AWS (e.g. EC2 storage networking).
• Manage and optimize Windows Server roles including IIS file services clustering and core OS features.
• Create and maintain documentation for upgrade procedures automation and PKI architecture.

What Youll Need to Have:

• Strong experience supporting enterprise PKI and certificate services.
• Advanced PowerShell scripting skills with a strong focus on automation and operational tooling.
• Experience performing Windows Server upgrades in production environments.
• 5 years of hands-on experience with Windows Server (2012 R2 and newer).
• Familiarity with PKI platforms such as AppViewX Venafi or similar.
• Experience supporting Windows workloads in AWS including EC2 and hybrid integrations.
• Strong understanding of Active Directory fundamentals and identity services.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex OS PKI and infrastructure issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience migrating from Microsoft ADCS to enterprise PKI platforms.
• Familiarity with mTLS application certificate dependencies and regulated PKI environments.
• Background in clustering virtualization and infrastructure monitoring.
• Microsoft AWS or PKI-related certifications.

Pay Range:$65-$70/hr
