Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and achievement-oriented Community Engagement Officer for a short-term opportunity to lead community engagement activities in collaboration with Coordinators and Project Managers and other members of our Community Consultation and Engagement Team.

About The Role:

As a Community Engagement Officer youll support the design and delivery of community engagement and consultation activities across a range of Council projects and services.

Youll work closely with staff across the organisation Elected Members and key stakeholders to ensure our community is informed included and heard. This includes preparing communication materials updating engagement platforms coordinating meetings and contributing to a consistent and positive customer experience.

Youll be part of a collaborative team thats passionate about creating meaningful connections and delivering great outcomes for our community.

About You:

Youre someone who thrives on variety values great teamwork and is passionate about community this role youll take the lead in designing delivering and managing community consultation and engagement activities ensuring every project is delivered to a high standard and within agreed timeframes.

Youll bring:

  • Experience in engagement consultation communications social planning or administration ideally within local government or a similar environment.
  • A relevant qualification such as IAP2 (or equivalent) and/or demonstrated experience delivering engagement activities.
  • Confidence in leading consultation and engagement activities and working effectively across teams.
  • Skill in building strong relationships with colleagues Elected Members stakeholders and the community.
  • A proactive and organised approach with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Clear and confident communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences using tact diplomacy and care.
  • Strong digital capability and the ability to present information clearly and simply.

About Our Team:

The Community Engagement team ensures the voice of our community are heard through the beginning middle and end of key projects. The team monitor feedback through the online YourSay platform and other channels allowing residents and visitors to have their say on what matters most.

The Detail:

The position is offered on a short-term full-time fixed term contract concluding on 29 May 2026 and is classified at Level 6 with a starting salary of$111989 per annum Super Annual Leave Loading.
