The Department of Corrections Division of Institutions is recruiting for multiple Food Service Lead positions at the Anchorage Correctional Center (ACC) located in Anchorage Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing:

Train inmates in culinary arts including food preparation sanitation hygiene safety and proper use and cleaning of industrial kitchen equipment while ensuring food serving methods meet the State of Alaskas Department of Environmental Conservation standards. Adjust work schedules based on inmate availability document prepared diets and food items served and ensure hot/cold food carts are accurately loaded and temperature-checked before leaving the kitchen.

  • Food Production: Knowledge of planning growing and harvesting of food for consumption using appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Food Service: Knowledge of preparing and serving food for consumption
  • Flexibility: Is open to change and new information; rapidly adapts to new information changing conditions or unexpected obstacles.



Minimum Qualifications

This job class is part of a series of competency based class specifications created for career areas within the Labor Trades and Crafts Unit. The class specification identifies the levels of work and wage grades within the career area the core and specific competencies of the career area required work behaviors certifications and physical requirements. The competency specification for this job class is available at in this job class are filled through Union referral except for promotions demotions transfers and emergency appointments.

RECRUITMENT DIFFICULTIES

Starting salary may be approved up to Step D-$26.65 if criteria are met.



EDUCATION

The Department of Corrections follows and maintains federal and state requirements standards including but not limited to Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards which apply to all public and private institutions that house adult or juvenile offenders. Please be aware this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
