ICFs Disaster Management division seeks interns to support specific recovery projects and functions for the Divisionworkingalongside project teamstohelp state and local clients administer United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and United States Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funded programs. You will be exposed to a wide variety of experts across thefirmincluding those who address issues related to infrastructure disaster planning and recoveryfinancialmanagementconstruction and housing. This is a full-time 10-week internship expected to start early June2026.The work may be fully remote from anywhere in the United States.Atthis time we are unable to provide relocation or housing assistance.Pay is expected to be $23 per hour.
A HUD Housing Infrastructure and Mitigation Internship may:
Provide support to specific recovery projects and functions for the Division
Work alongside project teams helping state and local clients administer HUD CDBG-DR and Mitigation-funded disaster recovery programs.
Interact with a wide variety of experts across the firm who address issues related to infrastructure disaster planning and recoveryfinancialmanagementconstruction andhousing.
Support project teams implementing HUD Disaster Recovery and Mitigation funded programs helping to refine program procedures and processes for implementation
Work with staff to set up systems and help interpret and apply disaster recovery regulations and policy
Provide reconciliation accounting and supporting documentation for the assigned grants to ensure that each subrecipient will have an auditreadyfile
Conduct reviews of supporting documentation for the assigned grants to ensure that eachapplicant orsubrecipient receivesanappropriateawardforapprovedfederally funded programs
Provide generalassistancetoapplicants andsubrecipients in preparing documentation invoices and information to request reimbursement for approved federally funded programs
Help develop written products and tools for grantee policies and procedures and program implementation and design
Assistin the creation and maintenance of various documents training materials and presentations
Assistwith operational improvement initiatives and address operational problems as they arise
Conduct program and policy research
Basic Qualifications:
At least 30 credit hours of college coursework completed by start date with a focusinEngineering Emergency Management Political Science Accounting hardsciencesor other similarly related field
Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent verbal interpersonal and written communication skills
Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
Strong time management skills
Proficiencyin MS Office Applications (Word PowerPoint Outlook Excel)
Experience conducting research organizing and analyzing information
Experience writing detailed guidance and procedural materials
