POSITION: Instructional Paraeducator - CTE Construction Trades and Shops

LOCATION: Pasco High School

HOURS: 7.00 hours per day Monday-Friday

180-day calendar

SALARY: $21.38 - $23.72

Salary Schedules

AA Degree - $0.50/hour extra

BA Degree $0.75/hour extra

NEW HIRES ARE CONDITIONAL UPON PASSING A FINGERPRINT SCREENING

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with purchasing and receiving materials for class projects.
  • Assist with completion of daily reports record keeping and/or maintenance of inventories.
  • Assist students who areworking on equipment to complete class projects assignments and construction site tasks.
  • Participate in special projects that support CTE efforts and promote CTE classes.
  • Provide exemplary customer service and responsiveness.
  • Provide support to contractors on site.
  • Assist in operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assist with managing and maintenance of facilities.
  • Assist with reporting misconduct on school property and/or school bus route(s).
  • Attend and complete annual required training hours for paraeducator certification.
  • Translate verbal and/or written information for the purpose of assisting students district personnel parents and/or guardians. (Bilingual only).
  • Participate in District meetings to communicate information and gain feedback and/or direction on a variety of issues.
  • Assists with supervision of students to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Provide direction to students in group and/or individual activities under teacher guidance.

NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist other personnel as may be required to support them with the completion of their work activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bilingual and/or Biliterate (Spanish)preferred but not required.
  • Must meet one or more of the following:
    • Associates degree (AAS AA) or higher;
    • Earned 72 college quarter credits or 48 semester credits in college level 100 or higher courses;
    • Passing score onthe Educational Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment.
  • Prior paraeducator experience college or on-the job experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with students who are special needs preferred but not required.
  • Valid First aid and/or CPR card for infants and children or willing to obtain.
  • Prior experience in a high school setting preferred but not required.
  • Valid Drivers License and transportation.
  • Prior accounting and/or inventory control or willingness to be trained.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of equipment/tools used in High School courses including woods/automotive/metals shops/agriculture/foods.
  • Knowledge in proper use of English in both written and verbal forms use of correct grammar spelling and punctuation.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records.
  • Skill in operating standard office equipment including basic computer applications.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
  • Understand and conduct verbal and written instruction.
  • Knowledge of general cleaning supplies and usages.
  • Ability to establish a plan to address student behavior.
  • Ability to communicate clearly work effectively with staff students and/or building guests.
  • Ability to follow safe work practices procedures and work within designated bounds of authority and confidentiality.
