At GE Aerospace UK our International Trade Compliance (ITC) team helps keep our business moving safely and compliantly. Were now looking to hire a Lead Specialist - ITC to join our team at our site in Cheltenham.

In this role youll report to the Senior International Trade Compliance Leader UK and work closely with program and functional teams across our UK sites.

Youll be the go-to partner for UK export controls sanctions and customs. Youll organise export and licensing activity with the ECJU (including OGEL SIEL and OIEL) advise teams on classification screening and technical data controls and keep our records audit-ready. Youll also shape training and SOPs assess risks and stay on top of UK regulatory changes so we can keep improving how we work.

Job Description

  • As directed by the Senior Leader UK maintain registration for and accurate use of UK Open General Export Licences (OGELs) Open Individual Export Licences (OIELs) and MOD F680 security approvals at GEA to include annual submission of Open Licence Returns. Manage these and all Standard Individual Export Licence (SIEL) requests via the UK Government SPIRE / LITE application. Using knowledge of the GE Aerospace business and UK export controls provide advice to business stakeholders regarding licence selection to meet requirements of GEAs business strategy.
  • Collaborate with all military programs at GEA Cheltenham and where required other UK sites to create and maintain Export Licence Plans for each.
  • Lead ITC activities at GEA Cheltenham acting as lead responder to all Trade Compliance requests.
  • Collaborate with all military programs at GEA Cheltenham and where required other UK sites to maintain valid and accurate end user documentation from customers as required and in accordance with UK OGEL OIEL and SIEL authorisations.
  • Advise GEA program teams on use of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) authorisations.
  • Collaborate with US ITC team and external customer or supplier authorisation holders to ensure appropriate coverage is in place.
  • Promote awareness of export compliance requirements through GEA; establish collaborative relationships with site contacts and other disciplines.
  • Manage the ITC elements of Cheltenhams GTM (Global Trade Management) system.
  • Support the development of this and other ERP systems at GEA ensuring the system criteria for export licences are robust and safeguard site compliance.
  • Train all program users who assign UK and US export licences to transactions; manage and audit GTM access register.
  • Produce monthly audit reports for all export-controlled transactions at GEA Cheltenham.
  • Submit all findings to Senior Leader ITC UK and Senior Director - Global Trade Compliance Operations. Implement corrective actions as agreed.
  • Submit all US Department of Commerce (DoC) licence requests for GEA via the US Government SNAP-R application.
  • Advise program teams on use of these and DoC Exceptions to maintain compliance with US Export Administration Regulations (EAR) re-export rules.
  • With support from UK ITC team create and deliver appropriate UK and US Licence Use training for all Program managers at GEA.
  • Manage ITC travel authorisations at GEA Cheltenham as required in collaboration with site Security and Compliance teams.
  • Support all programs at GEA with export queries and with implementation of changes as a result of export or sanction regulation change.
  • As directed by the Senior Leader UK ITC undertake special projects and support other compliance program continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

  • Well-rounded experience in International Trade Compliance.
  • Previous experience in the management of compliance with U.S. export control and sanctions regulations outside of the U.S.
  • Previous experience in the management of compliance with UK export controls and sanctions.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt and grow in an expanding organisation.
  • Commitment to compliance and integrity.
  • Ability to collaborate among all levels of the ITC organisation and business.
  • Ability to learn export control and sanctions regulations in new markets.
  • Self-starter who can develop effective networks with internal customers and external stakeholders.

Desired qualifications

  • Degree qualification.
  • Previous experience in building networks.
  • Strong time management prioritisation analytical and organisational skills with ability to meet deadlines and achieve desired results.
  • Excellent customer relationship communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptable and capable of managing multiple initiatives both collaboratively and independently.
  • Experience in international business contracts supply chain engineering or relevant discipline.
  • Understanding of the process surrounding assessing jurisdiction and classification of items.
