Job Summary
The Buffalo Grove Park District Land Management Natural Area Internship Program provides a comprehensive hands-on learning experience for students and emerging professionals interested in natural area restoration natural resources and ecological management. Interns will gain practical field experience explore interdepartmental operations and develop leadership skills through a structured 13-week program. Hours may vary some which may be scheduled during holidays or weekend periods during special events. Strong organizational communication and problem-solving skills are required to be successful throughout the internship.
Education and Experience:
1. Currently enrolled in or graduated from a degree program in Environmental Science Ecology Natural Resources Forestry or a related field.
2. Interest in ecological restoration land management and public park operations.
3. Valid drivers license required.
4. Obtain Illinois Pesticide Operator Certification within the first two weeks of the internship (testing provided by the Park District).
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
1. While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to: walk stand and bend.
2. Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
Pay Range:
$17/hr
