A bit about the role
Action for Childrens Schools Wellbeing Service began as a partnership funded by Scottish Friendly in June 2023 and is funded until May 2027. We work closely with Glasgow schools that experience the highest levels of need offering a caring early help approach that supports pupils emotional wellbeing before challenges escalate. With two dedicated Wellbeing Practitioners based directly in schools young people can easily reach out for support themselves or be referred by trusted staff ensuring help is accessible timely and rooted in strong relationships.
Our practitioners deliver a blend of supportive evidence based interventions. Bouncing Back introduces large groups of young people to simple practical tools that build resilience and confidence. For those who need a little more the Blues Programme offers a gentle structured six weeks space for 1319 year olds to explore low mood anxious thoughts and emotional resilience guided by a wellbeing questionnaire to identify who will benefit most. When a young person requires more focused support we offer one-to-one sessions using the My Mind Star tool to help them understand and strengthen their emotional wellbeing. Practitioners can also work alongside families using the Family Star helping them explore wider needs and create meaningful action plans that support positive change at home and in the community.
