Job Summary

The Investment Consultant is a client facing role responsible for delivering and presenting quarterly market reviews investments reports and fund recommendations on group retirement savings programs to clients. This role requires strong analytical skills excellent communication abilities and a deep understanding of financial markets.

The Investment Consultant will:

Investment reports

  • Develop a plan for completion of quarterly investment reports and other projects.

  • Determine team support needed to complete projects on time.

  • Work with Consultant to understand and obtain data needed to complete report.

  • Monitor client portfolios and ensure compliance with investment policy statements.

  • Present investment reports and recommendations to clients and committees.

  • Track revenues and support the invoicing process for fixed fee mandates.

  • Maintain quartile ranking database by carrier

Market review

  • Research and review economic and investment market developments during the year and quarter.

  • Prepare a quarterly market review for client distribution.

  • Develop presentation and conduct an annual webinar for clients based on the December 31 market review and outlook for the year.


Research and Analysis

  • Perform market research economic trend analysis and asset allocation studies.

  • Research individual funds to understand investment style strategy and holdings to explain performance variations to benchmark and support recommendations.

  • Conduct research and analysis in support of specialty areas (e.g. target date funds and ESG).


Client Service

  • Retain existing clients through effective and professional service and support.

  • Develop and maintain positive relations with Consultants and Client contacts.

  • Deal with customer concerns quickly and ensure the client lead is made aware.


Coach and Mentor Others

  • Provide training and support the development of others.

  • Coach and mentor team members.

  • Promote and maintain a collaborative team environment.


Quality Control

  • Become an expert with the tools and software being used.

  • Automate the investment reporting as much as possible.

  • Ensure all work is checked and reviewed to enhance accuracy and quality of work product.

To be successful as an Investment Consultant with People Corporation you will need:

  • CFA or CIPM designation.

  • 35 years of experience in investment consulting or portfolio management.

  • Excellent presentation and communication abilities.

  • Advanced analytical and research skills.

  • Proficient in Excel and investment analytics platforms Morningstar and eVestment.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
