As aGrid Substation DesignIntern you will be supporting thesubstation design groupwith the goal of providing excellent quality work for our clients.
This is a full-time 10-week internship that begins in early June may be done remotely from any U.S. location or hybrid from our Reston VA office.At this time we are unable to provide relocationnorhousing assistance for this internship.Pay is expected to be $23 per hour.
AsaGrid Substation DesignInternyou will:
Assistwith the design and preparation of substation design drawings and including:
Substation One Line and Three Line
Station General Arrangements & Sections
AC/DC Schematics
Substation Panel Layouts
Substation Panel Wiring
Electrical Details
Grounding Plan & Details
Conduit Plan & Details
Control Cubicle Layout Sections Cable Tray Lighting and Grounding
Low-Voltage AC Panels
Grounding Plan & Details
Lightning Protection
Illumination Plan & Details
Coordinate with other disciplines and drafting disciplines to ensure quality deliverables
Participate in internal technical discussions and project planning efforts
Apply client standards related to the work
Interns may or should have:
The ability to work with and understand technical concepts while also being able to communicate them to non-technical personnel
Basic knowledge of the electric grid
Strong organizational skills
Strong skillsand capabilities in Microsoft Office (specificallyWord andExcel)
Basic Qualifications:
By start date a minimum of 30 completed college-level credit hours isrequiredpreferably in Electrical Engineeringor closely related discipline
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of power systems
Advanced user of Microsoft products specificallyWord andExcel

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position including but not limited to relevant work experience skills certifications and competencies that align to the specified role geographic location education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
