Job Description:

The Center for Arts in Medicine in the College of the Arts seeks a copy editor to join us in editing submissions for our digital journal Perspectives on Arts in Health. Perspectives on Arts in Health is an open-access peer-reviewed publication dedicated to advancing practice and research at the intersection of arts and health.

Responsibilities:

  • Corrects grammar spelling and punctuation errors
  • Ensures that all content adheres to APA style guide and journal guidelines
  • Reviews references and information to ensure they are cited appropriately in APA style as applicable
  • Conducts a final proofread of formatted content before publication
  • Collaborate with the layout designer to create journal style guides and submission templates
  • Other tasks as assigned by the editor (Center Director).
Expected Salary:

$40/hour

Required Qualifications:
  • B.A. in English communications journalism or related field.
  • Able to work up to 10 hours per week
Preferred:

The successful candidate will bring to the position:

  • 1-2 years of experience in proofreading APA-style and copy-editing skills
  • Knowledge of APA style
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proven attention to detail and initiative to meet deadlines without prompting
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Knowledge of scholarly fields related to arts in health
  • Evidence of success in promoting an environment that advances pluralism curiosity viewpoint diversity open discourse and the well-being of all.
