Software Development Manager, GPT

Amazon World Wide Operations Organization is seeking a Software Development Manager to help build Amazons indirect supply chain.
In this role you will be working in one of the worlds largest and most complex supply chain business environments. You should be passionate about utilizing the latest technologies to build end to end business solutions working with huge datasets to answer business questions. You should have deep expertise in the creation and management of backend and frontend applications and data stores as well as proven ability to translate data into meaningful insights.
We are looking for a Software Development Manager to help build new initiatives for the indirect supply chain and manage the innovation streams for this program. We are growing fast and pushing the boundaries on supply chain optimization and operational excellence.

Define the strategy and roadmap for your team
Hire and develop the industrys best talent to build a strong and well-balanced team
Work across the organization to deliver best-in-class supply chain solutions while balancing critical business objectives
Build the next generation systems for supply chain management to allow rapid innovation in operational processes
Build software that easily extends to meet the high growth of Amazons supply chain business and capabilities
Own and operate mission critical services that are highly reliable and highly low latency
Influence Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence initiatives to optimize supply chain decisions and forecasting


A day in the life
You will lead in a fast-paced environment guiding a team of smart software engineers to architect and develop the right technical solutions to meet the needs of the business. You will be in charge of the complete software development lifecycle: defining prioritizing designing building and testing new features. We care about both delivering business value and high quality software; we dont sacrifice one for the other. Were looking for someone with a demonstrated track record of hiring and leading teams of software development engineers to build and run highly-scalable global software solutions.


About the team

We work with huge datasets to answer critical business questions and build end-to-end solutions that directly impact Amazons ability to serve customers efficiently and cost-effectively.

- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 7 years of engineering experience
- 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
- Experience working with large datasets and data-driven decision making
- Background in supply chain operations or logistics systems
