About the role

We are looking for aSenior Specialist RT Procurement (Sustaining Capital) to lead the BEC category within Sustaining Capital.

Supporting Rio Tinto Iron Ore (RTIO) Sustaining Capital this role will work closely with key stakeholders in our business and have broad exposure across one of the worlds largest sustaining capital portfolios as well as supporting stakeholders in RTP and corporate functions.

This role is a great opportunity for an experienced contracts and procurement professional and a leader who has effective stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills as well as a sharp commercial awareness with an extensive background in high pressure capital projects environment & a proven capability in creating a psychologically safe working environment.

Reporting to the Manager BEC & Water you will:

• Provide leadership coaching and mentoring of end-to-end procurement supporting key stakeholders and complex capital projects across RTIOs assets;

• Work closely with the Sus Cap team to develop & implement BEC category strategy;

• Be an expert negotiator mediator and problem solver who is committed to driving positive contractual outcomes for the business;

• Deliver a high performance end to end procurement service for the Sustaining Capital portfolio;

• Proven capability in construction & technical knowledge to inform decisions make sound contractual judgements & drive value based solutions;

• Maintain E2E contracts management reporting and monitoring to measure progress current health metrics and the like to inform senior management;

• Ensure all capital contracts are executed in line with the Companys strict governance and compliance requirements including use of Ariba and Contruent;

• With your category manage the dispute resolution process for complex contractual claims;

• Work closely with project leads engineers site based construction teams and other project delivery professionals in order to deliver the annual capital plan;

• Maximise commercial value for the business through leading contract management practices and behaviours;

• Attend contract progress meetings and identify and help mitigate/reduce any potential commercial risks; and

• Be expected to travel to sites as required on an as needed basis in order to maintain effective relationships with key site based stakeholders & contractors.

What youll bring

To be successfully considered for this role you will have:

• Focus and ability to deliver construction projects safely in the Pilbara;

• Strong understanding of contract law negotiation strategies and commercial risk management.

• Tertiary qualification in law procurement supply chain business or related field.

• Proven experience in contracts and procurement within largescale construction mining infrastructure or major capital projects.

• Tendering evaluation contract drafting and negotiation experience;

• Sound ability on claims management and determining effective commercial outcomes;

• Strong focus on workplace culture team cohesion and a proactive attitude;

• Proactive management of stakeholders and an ability to build strong relationships; and

• Ability to successfully manage competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
