Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship at Northway School



We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our team as a Teaching Assistant Apprentice. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting childrens learning and development who is eager to gain hands-on experience while working towards a recognised qualification.


Apprenticeship Overview:


  • Salary:7.55 an hourAutomatic pay increase after one year on programme for 19 year olds
  • Working Week:Monday to Friday - 8.35am - 3.50pm (30 minute lunch break)
  • Hours: 33.5 hours per week
  • Duration:18 months
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification
  • Online training supported by our dedicated tutor
  • Location: The Fairway London NW7 3HS
  • Website: a Teaching Assistant Apprentice you will:


    • Assist teachers with lesson preparation resource set-up and classroom activities to create a productive learning environment.
    • Provide tailored guidance to pupils helping them understand subjects build confidence and overcome challenges.
    • Support behaviour management strategies ensuring a safe respectful and engaging space for learning.
    • Help organise and prepare teaching materials from textbooks to visual aids and digital resources.
    • Assist with marking recording progress and tracking student performance.
    • Work closely with staff to adapt activities and ensure all pupils including those with additional needs feel included and supported.
    • Encourage the use of technology in lessons guiding students with educational tools and software.
    • Support teachers in maintaining positive relationships with parents sharing progress and addressing concerns.
    • Take part in training and workshops to develop your teaching skills and knowledge.
    • Always uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and student welfare.


    Essential Qualifications:


    • GCSEs in English and Maths at grades 49 (A*C) desireable


    Skills and Personal Qualities:


    • Patience sensitivity and a calm caring nature
    • Enthusiastic about supporting childrens learning and development
    • Flexible adaptable and a team player
    • Strong verbal communication skills
    • Good active listening and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to follow instructions and use initiative
    • Confident using basic IT systems or handheld devices
    • Interest in education and understanding peoples behaviours and needs


    What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end


    The successful candidate will obtain a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification.

    Each apprentice will have their own dedicated tutor who will conduct monthly remote tutorials and reviews providing continuous support throughout the apprenticeship program. Depending on the apprentices needs the frequency of these sessions may vary.

    Potential full-time employment for the right candidate upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.


    Pre-employment checks. Please be aware that upon a successful offer of employment the company completes digitalised right-to-work checks and DBS applications via an external provider - Matrix Screening.
