The Emergency Department Clinical Nurse Educator functions in the role of clinician educator and researcher in the Emergency collaboration with the unit director nurse managers nursing staff and medical providers the Emergency Department Clinical Nurse Educator monitors the clinical care of patients and provides clinical support to improve patient care and patient outcomes through evidence-based practice.
Requirements
- Current and valid Registered nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or from a state that is part of a Compact agreement with Virginia
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN) or obtain in 24 months upon hire
- Minimum of 3 years as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Department setting
- Specialty certification within 2 years preferred
- MSN or Masters Degree in related field preferred
Skills
- Annual education and competencies as required per hospital certifications.
- HIPAA appropriately manages Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Personal Protective Equipment - when appropriate.
- Safe Patient Handling devices - to minimize risk of injury.
- Maintains calm and safe approach within the work environment towards those that display violent or aggressive behavior.
- Must possess written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise in nursing practice and knowledge of adult learning principles.
- Demonstrate interest in professional associations and other sources of career and knowledge development.
- Demonstrate ability to effectively work with individuals and groups.
- Demonstrate self-direction creativity intellectual curiosity and accountability.
