Overview:
Sentara Medical Group is seeking a compassionate and experienced Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our outpatient team in South Boston VA. This is an excellent opportunity for a provider who values a collaborative patient-centered approach and wants to make a meaningful impact on individuals struggling with behavioral health challenges.
Position Details:
- Location: South Boston VA
- Patient Volume: Approximately 3540 patients per week
- Schedule: MondayFriday 8:00 AM5:00 PM No on-call requirements
Patient Population:
- Substance and alcohol use disorders Depression and anxiety Grief and loss ADHD Bipolar Disorder PTSD PMDD Schizophrenia etc.
Team Composition:
- 2 Physicians
- 1 Licensed Professional Counselor
- 2 Support Staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct outpatient behavioral health visits and follow-ups
- Prescribe and manage medications as appropriate
- Provide counseling and therapy when indicated
- Collaborate closely with physicians on patient care
- Monitor and track patient progress ensuring individualized effective treatment plans
Ideal Candidate:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in behavioral health
- Proven ability to provide both medication management and counseling
- Experience in evaluating and determining the most effective treatment approach for patients whether through medication therapy or a combination of both
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to providing high-quality patient-centered care
