Facilities Maintenance Technician

Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) is looking for a hands-on Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities team supporting a range of modern busy environments across multiple sites.

This is a varied practical role suited to someone who enjoys problem-solving working across different locations and being part of a team that keeps critical facilities running smoothly.

Oxford Nanopore is a global leader in DNA and RNA sequencing technology. Our facilities support cutting-edge scientific research and include laboratories offices warehouses logistics and production spaces. The Facilities team plays a key role in ensuring these environments operate safely and efficiently every day.

Youll be responsible for day-to-day building and property maintenance across multiple sites responding to helpdesk requests coordinating contractors and supporting both planned and reactive works.

The Facilities team also supports the business during occasional critical incidents (such as power or water issues) so the ability to remain calm organised and adaptable is important. Out-of-hours work may be required at times and is planned where possible.

• General building and property maintenance
• Reactive and planned maintenance works
• Property inspections and basic compliance checks
• Office moves and meeting room setups
• Supervising contractors and managing permits to work
• Reviewing risk assessments and method statements
• Logging and updating jobs via a helpdesk system
• Supporting facilities during emergency situations when required

• Proven experience in a property or facilities maintenance role
• Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks
• Working knowledge of HVAC Building Management Systems (BMS) and general M&E (or a willingness to develop further)
• A customer-focused reliable approach and strong team-working skills
• Full clean UK driving licence
• Experience in a scientific technical or regulated environment is desirable but not essential

• Full-time multi-site role
• Use of your own vehicle is required (fuel reimbursed)
• Some flexibility is required including occasional work outside normal hours
