JOB GOAL: To enhance the quality of early childhood education by partnering with teachers to create inclusive developmentally appropriate learning environments where all students thrive. The mentor will build teacher capacity through collaborative coaching that addresses inclusive classroom strategies individual learning needs strengthens classroom management advances early literacy instruction and ensures evidence based practices are implemented consistently across all classrooms.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Arts Degree Masters Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years successful primary teaching experience.
- Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate (Early Childhood Reading/Literacy or Special Education endorsement preferred)
- Demonstrate understanding of the teacher evaluation elements specifically domains and standards.
- Experience in using achievement data to make instructional decisions
- Evidence of interpreting student data and aligning instruction to meet individual needs
- Demonstrated ability of strong interpersonal communication skills written and oral to relate in a positive manner with students parents and staff.
- Evidence of strong organizational skills: data scheduling time management prioritization
- Experience teaching early childhood including inclusion co-teaching and general education settings
- Experience researching creating and delivering professional development
- Demonstrated ability to support teachers with positive classroom culture and environment including student behavior management techniques
- Familiarity with Arizona Early Learning Standards
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities shall include but not be limited to the following:
- Develop and deliver relevant professional development on the Districts instructional expectations and practices
- Observe teachers and provide them with feedback on the implementation of newly learned skills.
- Enhance alignment between preschool and kindergarten curriculum and teaching strategies
- Implement research based instructional practices for preschool
- Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with children parents and staff.
- Create consistency across all Madison preschool classrooms
- Align yearly curriculum map/pacing guide for preschool
- Assist in scheduling preschool wide assessments with the Research and Evaluation department
- Teach standards of acceptable behavior using positive non-punitive developmentally appropriate
- Work with the Director of Community Education to ensure that children with special needs are appropriately and effectively served using the continuum of services.
- Participate in all staff meetings and staff development training opportunities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Community Education.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Maintains valid certifications fingerprint card and Appropriately Certified status. Observes teacher calendar and all Madison School District policies. Salary to be determined yearly according to Governing Board approved range.
EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated by the Director of Community Education.
