Assistant Principal (Substitute 8-12 weeks)

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Massachusetts Certification as a Secondary Principal required.
- Masters Degree or higher with a major in Educational Administration preferred.
- At least five years of successful teaching experience and/or administrative experience at the High School level.
- Experience analyzing behavioral and educational data.
- Experience with master scheduling.
- Knowledge and experience with state and federal special education laws and regulations.
- Such alternatives as the Principal and/or Superintendent of Schools may deem appropriate.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Principal in the general administration of the school
- Fosters a creative and innovative learning environment in which all students are inspired to excel
- Supports a culture where data is used to inform student growth and achievement
- Demonstrates and effectively communicates district priorities and values including a commitment to equity and high expectations for students
- Utilizes research and knowledge of effective practices to inform instructional and disciplinary decisions
- Demonstrates success in the area of implementing/maintaining comprehensive student supports aligned to the needs and interests of all students (MTSS)
- Solid understanding of the healthy social-emotional development of students including restorative practices and culturally responsive learning.
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Proactive and positive problem solver.
- Assist the Principal in the recruiting screening hiring training and assigning of school staff
- Evaluate assigned staff members in accordance with the accepted School Committee policies
- Skilled in coaching teaching staff to instruct using engaging and effective best practices.
- Assist Principal in the development and implementation of the schools annual MCAS action plan
- Participate in Instructional Support Team meetings to work with teachers guidance and adjustment counselors and other professional staff to develop and implement school-based interventions targeted at students needs
- Established and maintains favorable relationships with parents and local community groups
- Assist the Principal in the establishment promotion and maintenance of a professional school climate
- Participates as a member of the School leadership teams when requested
- Participates as a member of the Instructional Leadership Team
- Assist the Principal in the preparation of local and state reports
- Assist the Principal in the development of the annual budget and in ordering/receiving procedures
- Ensure compliance with state and federal special education laws and regulations
- Attend evening program/events as required
- Such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal

SALARY: In accordance with FPS Substitute Rates
