The Position

Were currently looking for a research associate to assess efficacy safety and translatability of new therapies in non malignant hematological disorders focusing on hemoglobinopathies. Together with a larger team you will be part of a highly collaborative international group of research associates and scientists that are developing medicines for the this role you will primarily work with cell-culturebased in vitro models to characterize and validate therapeutic strategies for anemia. This will require proficiency in cell culture assays and various in vitro techniques including flow cytometry and qPCR. Occasionally you will also support studies using preclinical animal models to further assess and validate these therapeutic approaches.

The opportunity

These responsibilities capture a portion of what your work will look like:

  • Work with cell lines primary cells and tissues including patient-derived material.

  • Evaluate the efficacy and safety of novel therapeutic targets or compounds through genetic manipulation assays ex vivo differentiation cultures and various molecular assays (e.g. multi color flow cytometry qPCR western blotting).

  • Occasional work with transgenic mouse models to support different projects (compound dosing tissue collection and processing)

  • Collaboratively design execute and interpret data from different studies and contribute to assay optimization.

  • Contribute to data analysis maintain detailed documentation and effectively communicate findings to the research team

  • Work closely with all members of the group share duties maintain a clean work environment and actively contribute to the positive work atmosphere within the group

  • Strong can-do attitude with a drive to succeed in a dynamic and highly collaborative research team.

  • MSc/BSc in Life Sciences (cellular/ molecular biology pharmacology immunology hematology) or completion of an apprenticeship for a research associate (Lehrabschluss) with 3 years of academic or industry experience

  • Extensive experience in cell culture and in vitro molecular assays (must have) and relevant industrial work experience is strongly preferred and prior experience in flow cytometry is a must

  • Authorization to conduct animal experimentation (e.g. active LTK1 FELASA or equivalent) and prior experience working with rodents (nice to have)

  • Technical and theoretical expertise in immunology/hematopoiesis is a plus

  • High motivation flexibility and excellent organizational skills to effectively support the team

  • Relevant industrial work experience is strongly preferred

  • Open and collaborative team spirit and excellent data management and record-keeping skills
