Description of Work
The Division of Parks and Recreation is seeking a dynamic efficient and enthusiastic individual to join the leadership team as a hands-on Project Manager.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Candidates meet the minimum qualifications of this position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed onthe vacancy announcement. Vacancy specific knowledge skills and abilities (KSAs) and/or management preferences are notrequired. Applicants who possess the following are preferred:
Demonstrated experience of building codes environmental rules as well as rules and regulations governing repair maintenance and construction of facilities.
Demonstrated experience with various types of trail systems such as: hiking bike equestrian and/or multi use trails.
Demonstrated experience of carpentry skills at journeyman level for maintenance and construction of bridges boardwalks retaining walls piers and/or other wood structures related to trails and trail systems.
Demonstrated experience with equipment operation skills at journeyman level for excavators backhoes track loader compactors tractors ATVs bulldozer and/or other equipment related to trail maintenance and construction.
Demonstrated experience completing cost and cost assessments in detail related to trail maintenance and construction.
Position/Physical Requirements
Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM with flexibility 40 hours a week.
Must be able to work weekends evenings and/or holidays after regular work shift as necessary.
Position is considered Essential/Mandatory Staff and required to work on adverse weather days during park emergencies and may be called to work on special events.
Must be able to travel with some overnight stays when necessary.
Must have a valid drivers license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within90 daysof employment.

Minimum Education and Experience
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience. If that language appears below then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience OR a combination of both. Associates degree in construction management air conditioning heating and refrigeration technology industrial maintenance technology or mechanical engineering technology from an appropriately accredited institution AND three (3) years of progressive experience in construction or facility maintenance including two (2) years of supervisory experience in construction maintenance and/or repair of buildings and facilities;
OR
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND five (5) years of progressive experience in facility maintenance or construction including journey level experience in at least three (3) building or mechanical trades including two (2) years of supervisory experience in construction maintenance and/or repair of buildings and facilities;
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification
May require current certification by the EPA as a Type I II III or Universal technician as required by 40 CFR part 82 subpart F.

Veterans and National Guard Preference
Applicants seeking Veterans Preference must attach a DD Form 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty along with the state application.
Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS) along with the state application if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.

Sign On Bonus Eligibility
To be eligible for a sign-on bonus the candidate must not have worked as a probationary permanent or time-limited employee in the last 12 months as an employee in North Carolina state government including without limitation the judicial system state executive branch agencies and the university system subject to the State Human Resources Act. Employee eligible for a sign-on must work at least 20 hours per week.
