We are recruiting a SEN/ARP Teaching Assistant for our specialist provision in Erdington Birmingham supporting children aged 511 with complex needs. Our ARP (Additional Resource Provision) caters to pupils with autism ADHD social-emotional challenges and learning difficulties enabling them to access a mainstream curriculum alongside targeted interventions.
The school promotes inclusive education ensuring every child is supported to achieve their potential academically socially and emotionally. Staff work closely with parents therapists and external agencies to implement personalised learning and behaviour support plans.
Our ARP emphasizes individualised interventions sensory-friendly learning and structured support giving children the tools to engage confidently in school life. Staff are trained in autism-specific approaches behaviour management and therapeutic strategies fostering an environment of inclusion and empathy.
As a Teaching Assistant in the ARP you will deliver one-to-one and small group support for pupils with complex needs. You will assist class teachers in planning and delivering differentiated lessons implementing EHCP targets and supporting behaviour management strategies.
Your role is integral in helping pupils develop independence communication and social interaction skills while creating a safe and structured environment. You will collaborate with SENCo therapists and families ensuring all children have consistent support throughout their school day.
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with complex SEN
Deliver personalised learning interventions aligned with EHCP targets
Support pupils social emotional and behavioural development
Promote independence confidence and self-regulation skills
Prepare resources for differentiated learning and structured activities
Observe record and report on pupil progress and incidents
Implement positive behaviour management and restorative approaches
Foster trust and engagement building positive relationships with pupils
Collaborate effectively with teachers therapists and parents to ensure consistent support
Maintain a safe inclusive and structured classroom environment
Ensure compliance with safeguarding health and safety protocols
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience supporting pupils with complex SEN including autism or ADHD
Be patient resilient and adaptable
Possess knowledge of differentiated learning and behaviour support strategies
Communicate effectively with children parents and multi-agency teams
Hold a TA qualification (desirable)
Understand safeguarding child protection and confidentiality requirements
SEN-focused training including autism ADHD and SEMH support
Behaviour management and restorative practice workshops
Mentoring and supervision to develop skills and confidence
