Project Overview
The Cancer Registry Administrator role supports the Cancer Registry and reports directly to the Cancer Registry Director. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate cancer data supporting research requests and ensuring standardized registry operations while adhering to state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- File and manage incoming cancer data reports from healthcare facilities including electronic storage of faxed and mailed records.
- Perform death clearance follow-back activities (training and guidance provided; task begins in April).
- Execute data pulls for pooled registry requests from researchers or national agencies for approved studies (training provided).
- Maintain and update healthcare facility contact information in SEER*DMS and Web Plus systems.
- Contribute to the development of registry policies and procedures by co-authoring standard operating procedures (SOPs) under guidance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree (required).
- Minimum of two years of experience in healthcare data collection data management or healthcare administration.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce accurate correspondence and reports.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy confidentiality and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance requirements.
- Oncology Data Specialist (ODS/CTR) certification or prior cancer registry experience is strongly preferred.
Soft Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Enterprise tools (Word Excel Teams).
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new software systems.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to collaboration.
- Professional customer service skills when working with agency partners and stakeholders.
