Job Summary

We are currently recruiting an Assistant Educator to join our Team in Markham at the following location(s):Buttonville PS Lincoln Alexander PS & St. John XXIII position is to fill a new Range: Assistant Educator $20.20 - $23.08/hour (includes General Operating Grant) plus Wage Enhancement Grant (up to $2.00/hr) and Split Shift Premium ($2.00/hr).*Candidates must be available to work a split shift in a before and after school program. Position Type & Required Availability: Casual Supply status (variable hours): Candidates must be available to work a minimum of 5 assigned shifts every month. Position Summary:To ensure operational and curriculum requirements are met in compliance with all Ministry and organizational guidelines. To ensure the delivery of a developmentally appropriate play based program by applying specialized skills and knowledge related to early childhood education. Supports the organizations vision mission and guiding values. This is a fully in-centre position. Job Responsibilities: Applies current legislative expectations to support a program that is consistent with Ministry of Education requirements and in accordance with Upper Canada Child Cares program in professional development opportunities staff meetings and training sessions as with the children and provides a positive learning experience. Provides a range of care including assisting with meals/snacks toileting diapering dressing the engagement of and ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children. Completes program charts daily logs reports and other administration tasks as Storypark for pedagogical documentation as a guide for program collaborates and communicates with other team members school personnel and outside agencies to help support the needs of all guidance to students and volunteers as children in need of additional support. Guides parents through the process of accessing resources. Helps design and implement individual support plans as & Requirements: A recent Vulnerable Sector Check Health assessment and record of immunization as outlined by legislation. Up-to-date certification in CPR-C and Standard First Aid (training provided upon selection if required).Basic knowledge of the developmental needs of children and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge. Experience with inquiry/play based program design and implementation and with the use of pedagogical documentation an asset. Uses initiative; applies sound reason in solving problems and resolves conflict in a calm professional manner. Proven ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively and establish appropriate relationships with families coworkers and other professionals. Have the physical and emotional stamina to effectively supervise children in a variety of settings including outdoor public spaces. Ability to use computer systems and programs; including Dayforce and Storypark. Moderate level of physical effort is regularly required; including but not limited to kneeling pushing pulling bending and carrying.
