Our employees are passionate about delivering high-quality programs and services to our residents and are proud to contribute to making Orangeville one of the exceptional places to live in descriptionThe Parks Horticulture/Public Works Operator is responsible for maintaining the horticultural landscape elements and performing a variety of duties to maintain and operate public parks open spaces trails sports fields splash pads and facilities as well as roads and sidewalks and equipment position works in the Facilities and Parks and Public Works divisions in this dual role depending on the needs of the divisions at a given time. The time spent with the Public Works division will be during the winter control operations period (approximately five months) and the rest of the time will be spent with Parks (approximately seven months).Job duties (Parks):Conducting operation maintenance and inspections of associated amenities and facilities which include general repairs painting building and maintenance of outdoor rinks splash pads and collecting refuse litter picking and assisting with general maintenance of trees shrubs perennial and annual plantings parks with the design and maintenance of horticultural areas that include preparation and planting of annuals perennials trees shrubs and not limited to watering pruning fertilizing cultivating mulching and operation and maintenance of sports fields and turf to include layout of fields multi-purpose sports pads grooming shut down and start-up of irrigation systems cutting/trimming top dressing over seeding fertilizing aerating sodding and watering in accordance with current cultural the safe and effective operation of a variety of equipment to conduct parks sports fields and turf duties as duties (Public Works):Performing manual labour as required in completing maintenance tasks and other duties which are the responsibility of the Infrastructure Services Town owned or rented small equipment and vehicles used for maintenance of municipal services including snow and ice removal operations including but not limited to trackless machines two tonne trucks front end loaders and walk behind snow manual labour as required such as snow shoveling transferring sand and salt to winter control equipment and other duties which are the responsibility of the with winter control operations both during and outside normal working duties as 12 secondary school education or equivalentOne (1) year experience working in a municipal parks and public works pesticide licenseStandard First Aid/CPR/AED CertificationValid Class G Ontario Drivers License in good standingPlayground Inspection and Certified Pool Operator certifications are considered skills including the ability to operate various parks and public works equipment and the ability to perform basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Xplor oral and written communication skills able to deal with customers and the public in a cordial be in good physical condition and able to work long range: $32.34 to $37.84 band 6 on the Towns 2026 pay grid plus a comprehensive benefits packageQualified candidates are invited to apply no later than 4 p.m. on January 20 2026.
