Be a Founding Educator: Launch a New SEL Program with TCSEA
Are you ready to build something new Tri County Special Education Association (TCSEA) is seeking a visionary Special Education Teacher (LBS1) to help launch a brand-new public school program in the Bloomington/Normal area for the 2026-2027 school year.
This is more than a teaching role; it is an opportunity to be a foundational member of a team dedicated to empowering students with social-emotional learning challenges. Join us in serving the McLean Logan and DeWitt communities and help shape the future of special education in our districts.
Essential Duties:
Program Development & Instruction
- Design and Launch: Collaborate with administration to establish classroom routines behavioral norms and a therapeutic culture for the new public school program.
- Differentiated Instruction: Adapt general education lessons and design specialized activities tailored to individual student abilities and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) goals.
- Classroom Leadership: Teach and mentor students across various settings (whole class small groups and one-on-one) fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Transition Planning: Prepare students for future success by designing clear transition plans for grade-level advancement and post-school life.
Case Management (IEP Leadership)
- Comprehensive IEP Management: specific duties including developing implementing and updating Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to ensure they reflect real-time student progress and data-driven goals.
- Assessment & Analysis: Assess student skills continuously to determine educational needs and track performance against IEP benchmarks.
- Facilitation: Lead IEP meetings and communicate effectively with all stakeholders regarding student growth needs and legal compliance.
Collaboration & Supervision
- Team Leadership: Supervise mentor and guide Teacher Assistants/Paraprofessionals to ensure consistent implementation of behavioral strategies and instructional support.
- Stakeholder Partnership: Maintain active communication and partnership with parents general education teachers counselors and administrators to support student outcomes.
Salary and Benefits:
- IRS (take home pay) ranges from $39649 to $79340 depending on Education and Experience.
- Board paid retirement (TRS and THIS Contributions Paid)
- Individual Health Insurance Board Paid
- Professional Development Paid (4 days per year)

- Mentoring for all new employees
