Ongoing roleTrauma Teddy Finishing School held every Thursday 10am to approx. 1pmAttend our Flinders Street Docklands location to participate Use your basic to medium sewing skills to help quality control and repair Trauma Teddies donated by our knitting volunteers You do not need to know how to knit but this would be advantageousAttendance isnt expected every week we understand that life is busy but if you could commit to coming at least a couple of times per month Help prepare our Teddy stock ready for our Summer Activation period when large numbers of Teddies can be required by our Emergency Services TeamsWhy Choose to volunteer with Red CrossYou can help improve lives and create a positive impact in your communityIts an opportunity to enhance your skills & knowledge & gain new experiencesYoull be helping Red Cross to support vulnerable people across AustraliaThe programTrauma Teddy is the cuddly face of Australian Red Cross. 2025 is the 35th Birthday of Trauma Teddy in Australia. Knitted by Red Cross volunteers all over Australia these woollen teddies are given freely to children and adults needing comfort or gentle distraction during traumatic events. The Trauma Teddies are delivered to hospitals fire stations ambulance stations community health centres and are utilised by our Emergency Services teams in relief and recovery centres all over opportunityJoin us onsite at our office in the Docklands on Thursday mornings from 10am to assist the Trauma Teddy Team to quality control the knitted teddies received from our volunteers. You dont necessarily have to know how to knit. If you have reasonable sewing skillyou will be able to help fix or repair the teddies so they are ready for impactAs a volunteer with the Trauma Teddy Team you will help support vulnerable people to feel safe and comfortable during difficult times.
