Behavioral Health Tech IV

This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public position is covered under the Service Contract Act. This position delivers essential patient care services supports clinical operations and works collaboratively with behavioral health providers to improve patient functioning and recovery outcomes. The Technician performs duties requiring advanced experience in behavioral health including care coordination crisis support patient monitoring recovery facilitation and skills coaching. The Behavioral Health Technician IV must be able to work independently while adhering to IHS policies clinical protocols and professional standards of Controls:You are not directly supervised by the IHS Department IHS Department Supervisor or designee establishes overall patient care objectives allocates resources and may periodically review work to ensure compliance with IHS policies and accepted clinical IHS supervisor may provide case-based guidance clinical instructions performance feedback and consultation related to complex diagnostic or treatment unusual or complex patient situations are discussed with the IHS supervisory officer or Responsibilities:Provide direct behavioral health support services under the guidance of licensed clinical monitor and document patient behavior progress interactions and symptoms in accordance with established charting in implementing behavioral health treatment plans interventions and care signs and symptoms of mental illness co-occurring disorders addiction and psychiatric or participate in Recovery Dialogues group activities and therapeutic skill-building patient education and coaching to support independent living skills and healthy behavior knowledge of community resources to assist patients in accessing supportive Management and Prevention of Disruptive Behavior techniques to maintain a safe clinicians with case coordination appointment follow-up and patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA and IHS-specific privacy in team meetings case staffing and continuing education as additional duties within the behavioral health scope as Qualifications (Must Have):Education:Candidate must meet ONE of the following:Academic degree in a behavioral healthrelated field (e.g. Psychology Counseling Social Work Human Services Public Health).High school diploma and national certification as a Psychiatric Technician from the American Association of Psychiatric :At least 45 years of experience working in a behavioral health setting such as mental health substance use treatment crisis response behavioral health residential care or community support of:DSM-VTR diagnostic criteria and common psychiatric disordersSigns symptoms and progression of mental illnessCo-occurring (dual diagnosis) conditionsAddiction and recovery processesBehavioral health crisis intervention conceptsIndependent living support skills and community resource linkageRecovery tools and Recovery Dialogue facilitationTechniques for Management and Prevention of Disruptive BehaviorBehavioral health program eligibility and service structuresCertification:National Psychiatric Technician Certification required if no behavioral health degree is is preferred for degreed Requirements:Ability to work independently while following clinical communication observation and documentation to maintain professionalism and compassion in emotionally challenging assigned meetings and actively participate as part of the care facility rules policies charting standards and uniform with shift schedules care delivery protocols and behavioral health safety Requirement:Ability to obtain a Public TrustPreferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):Previous experience working in Indian Health Service Tribal or other Native community behavioral health with culturally responsive behavioral health in de-escalation crisis prevention or trauma-informed documenting care in electronic health record systems (EHR).Work Schedule:Monday through Friday8:00 AM 5:00 PMFederal holidays and weekends offServices are provided on-site onlyCore Competencies:Behavioral health knowledge and clinical awarenessCrisis identification and response capabilityCultural humility and respect for American Indian/Alaska Native communitiesCompassion empathy and trauma-informed approachStrong interpersonal and team collaboration skillsExcellent attention to detail and documentation accuracyOur Equal Employment Opportunity PolicyThe company is an equal opportunity employer.
