Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking a Grinder/Finisher in its Norfolk VA location. The Grinder/Finisher is responsible for finishing surfaces of machined metal and assembled parts to a specified specification. This role involves manual and machine finishing processes ensuring that all parts meet quality standards and the companys safety policies.

Essential Functions:

• Operate grinding and finishing machinery and hand tools to finish metal components.
• Read and interpret blueprints drawings and work orders to determine product specifications and requirements.
• Inspect and measure finished products to ensure they meet the required specifications.
• Perform routine maintenance on grinding and finishing equipment.
• Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Document production data and report any discrepancies or issues to the supervisor.
• Collaborate with team members to improve processes and meet production goals.
• Able to lift and move objects up to 35 lbs.
• Standing bending and reaching for extended periods.
• Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Use of measuring tools(calipers tape measure radius gauge micro finish comparator).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in grinding finishing or a related field.
• Proficiency in operating grinding and finishing machines and hand tools.
• Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
• Experience working with safety practices and procedures in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Strong attention to detail and quality control skills.
• Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
