SEND Complaints & Tribunals Officer
Location: Remote with occasional travel to the Local Authority in South East
Contract: 6 months
Rate: Up to 366/day (umbrella)
A Local Authority in the South East is looking for an experienced SEND Complaints & Tribunals Officer to support its Education and SEND service on an interim basis. This role focuses on managing complex SEND casework responding to complaints and leading on tribunal activity to ensure statutory compliance and positive outcomes for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities as Tribunals Officer:
Represent the Local Authority at SEND Tribunals preparing and presenting evidence.
Lead on complex casework mediation and dispute resolution with families schools and professionals.
Draft highquality responses for complaints enquiries and Ombudsman investigations.
Track tribunal cases and complaints to support service development and improvement.
Work collaboratively with parents legal representatives schools and multiagency partners.
What we are looking for:
Strong understanding of SEND legislation and statutory processes.
Proven experience in SEND case management including appeals and tribunals.
Confident in negotiation conflict resolution and managing sensitive situations.
Excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to work independently.
Willingness to travel within the region when required.
