LPN Job Description:
The Viral Hepatitis (VH) Program within the Communicable and Environmental Diseases and Emergency Preparedness (CEDEP) division of the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) is currently seeking a licensed practical nurse to join the Jail Vaccination Team. Staff within the Viral Hepatitis Program work to increase access to diagnosis and treatment to reduce viral hepatitis infection morbidity and mortality rates in Tennessee and this includes addressing health disparities related to viral hepatitis. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance to Knoxville.
LPN Primary Job Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Planning and conducting vaccination clinics within county jails across East and Northeast Tennessee; travel required (40-60% within Knox County East and Northeast Public Health Regions).
- Educating justice-involved individuals about vaccinations and viral hepatitis prevention.
- Properly storing transporting and administering vaccinations according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) handling guidance.
- Documenting patient information according to standards of care.
- Completing patient health records (electronic and paper).
- Tracking and reporting number of vaccines administered at each clinic site and educational materials provided.
- Participating in programmatic calls with project supervisor and/or viral hepatitis teams.
- Communicating with internal and external entities.
- Maintaining patient health files and legal record of service.
Qualifications Needed for LPN position:
- Currently licensed as a practical nurse in the state of Tennessee or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Tennessee under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
- Have a valid drivers license
