About the service:

The Hunter New England (HNE) and Central Coast Specialised Intellectual Disability Health Team (SIDHT) is one of seven specialist teams across NSW dedicated to improving health outcomes for people with intellectual disability.

Based at the Wallsend Health Campus the team delivers high-quality person-centred consultation and support for clients with complex or unmet health needs. Services are delivered across HNE and the Central Coast giving staff the opportunity to work with diverse communities and clinical partners.

Youll be joining a warm highly skilled multidisciplinary team characterised by collaboration respect and a deep commitment to advocacy. Youll be supported by the Allied Health Manager NDIS Disability and Clinical Quality & Improvement and work within an experienced welcoming SIDHT team that values collaboration and professional growth.


About the role:

We have an exceptional opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2 to step into a pivotal leadership role within the Specialist Intellectual Disability Health Team. As Team Leader you will provide strategic and clinical leadership to a high-performing team dedicated to delivering outstanding care and support for people with intellectual disability.

The Specialist Intellectual Disability Health Team delivers vital and impactful work providing a multidisciplinary consultative service for individuals with intellectual disability who have unmet health needs. The team also leads capacity building and education initiatives for NSW Health staff and primary healthcare providers.

You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team alongside Social Workers Paediatricians General Practitioners and Administration staff to deliver integrated person-centred care.

This role is supported by the Allied Health Manager NDIS Disability and Clinical Quality and Improvement within the HNE Allied Health Directorate. You will be joining the Specialist Intellectual Disability Health Team an experienced collaborative and highly supportive clinical team.

The position also offers valuable opportunities to expand your professional network and engage with Specialist Intellectual Disability Health Teams across NSW Local Health Districts fostering collaboration shared learning and best practice in care delivery.

Requirements:
Our successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Registered Nurse with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA who has at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in this specialty addition the employee must have approved postgraduate nursing qualifications in intellectual disability/disability/management.
