Job Description:

The MBPS Actuarial Internship Program is a development program that offers high-potential university students the opportunity to gain practical experience and knowledge on the different actuarial concepts as theyre exposed to the different roles and responsibilities of an Actuarial Assistant in MBPS.

The program aims to develop the actuarial skills of university students who aspire to become the actuaries of tomorrow and give them opportunity to prepare for and be exposed in the actuarial field in a corporate environment. Were looking for determined Actuarial interns that can commit to self-development accountability and responsibility.

Sample tasks you may encounter:

  • Develop and test liability and asset actuarial models using GGY AXIS or other software
  • Maintain and run valuation models for monthly/quarterly reserve calculation and financial reporting
  • Complete mortality lapse and other experience studies for various Manulife businesses
  • Analyze reserves capital and risk calculations and provide commentary on results to management
  • Support pricing initiatives through development of models/tools to be used for product profitability and viability analyses

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science Mathematics or Statistics
  • Basic knowledge in various actuarial concepts and their application to life insurance (e.g. probability interest theory life contingencies)
  • Demonstrates strong quantitative analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate output clearly and conciselyboth verbally and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with database software and Microsoft Excel
  • Driven to attain designation in any recognized actuarial organization (e.g. SoA ASP)
  • Amenability to working fully on-site from Mondays to Friday at UP Techno Hub Quezon City
