The FIT BSA (Finance & Investments Technology Business Solution Area) that supports Nationwides finance organization by providing and running the applications that enable core financial risk and reporting processes endtoend is looking to hire an experienced software engineer.

This role will be a part of the Vanguard agile team in FIT / InvestTech. This is the product team that builds and runs technology for Investments Operations and Controllership with a heavy focus on investment accounting and securities pricing. Vanguard owns and supports key Investments apps such as PAM for Investments (PFI) Precision Loan Management (PLM/LMS) Securities Pricing (web desktop batch agent) and ARENA.

In addition to core JAVA skills API expertise (APigee SOAP etc.) would be key skills desired. Additionally Cloud and Platform services would be preferred.

This role will be filled in our Columbus OH office on a hybrid schedule. The team comes into the office for collaboration two days a week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

As a Software Engineer you will focus primarily on providing high quality efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built this capacity youll analyze code configure test debug document and maintain applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyzes solutions develops tests debugs documents and deploys software according to standards in an agile environment.

• Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.

• Uses DevSecOps practices tooling and techniques.

• Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training practice and innovation.

• Manages medium to large project priorities deadlines and deliverables proactively.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science management information systems or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.

Experience: Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.

Knowledge Abilities and Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java C Python JavaScript. Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria including leadership skills competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring managers leader and Human Resources Business Partner.

The expected starting salary range for Specialist Software Engineer : $95500.00 - $143500.00
